چکیده

The following stress factors were tested for their effect on the susceptibility of Plutella xylostella (L.) to Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner: (a) exposure to low doses of the synthetic pyrethroid cypermethrin, (b) treatment with low doses of the secondary plant compound, azadirachtin and (c) development on partially resistant cabbage cultivars. B. thuringiensis-related mortality of cypermethrinand azadirachtin-stressed larvae did not differ significantly from that of non-stressed larvae. However, larvae reared on different cabbage cultivars differed in their response to B. thuringiensis. LC50 values of larvae reared on some resistant cultivars were significantly lower than LC50 values of larvae reared on susceptible cultivars. However, not all resistant cultivars caused this effect. Although stress treatment with resistant cultivars affected consumption of B. thuringiensis-treated leaf discs, these differences in feeding rate did not explain the observed differences in mortality.

Cyt1Aa from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis is toxic to the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella, and synergizes the activity of Cry1Ac towards a resistant strain.

The Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis cytolytic protein Cyt1Aa was found to be toxic to an insecticide-susceptible laboratory population of Plutella xylostella. Cry1Ac-resistant populations of P. xylostella showed various degrees of resistance to Cyt1Aa. Cyt1Aa/Cry1Ac mixtures showed a marked level of synergism in the Cry1Ac-resistant populations.

Immune system challenge in a host-parasitoid-pathogen system: interaction between Cotesia plutellae (Hym.: Braconidae) and Bacillus thuringiensis influences parasitism and phenoloxidase cascade of Plutella xylostella (Lep.: Plutellidae)

Cross-Resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis Toxin CryIF in the Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella).

Selection with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki, which contains CryIA and CryII toxins, caused a >200-fold cross-resistance to CryIF toxin from B. thuringiensis subsp. aizawai in the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella. CryIE was not toxic, but CryIB was highly toxic to both selected and unselected larvae. The results show that extremely high levels of cross-resistance can be conferred ...

Complete Genome Sequence of Bacillus thuringiensis Serovar rongseni Reference Strain SCG04-02, a Strain Toxic to Plutella xylostella

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is widely used to control agricultural and forestry pests, though there are only a few available complete genome sequences of the Bt reference strain. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of B. thuringiensis serovar rongseni reference strain SCG04-02, which is toxic to Plutella xylostella.

Variation in susceptibility to Bacillus thuringiensis toxins among unselected strains of Plutella xylostella.

So far, the only insect that has evolved resistance in the field to Bacillus thuringiensis toxins is the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella). Documentation and analysis of resistant strains rely on comparisons with laboratory strains that have not been exposed to B. thuringiensis toxins. Previously published reports show considerable variation among laboratories in responses of unselected la...
